Personal notes: I literally felt like I was in Fairyland among so many beautiful lichens, mushrooms and plants, you will see in the pictures. Seriously... What a magical place! No wonder Finland has some of the most incredible lichenologists in the world! The place was super interesting for me coming from the tropics, a totally different experience. And lichens are VALUED there by everybody. On the streets people knew about lichens and how they were important for the ecosystem, especially due to the reindeer ranching culture. There were areas we passed they were even PROTECTED with fences so people could not step on the lichens. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
